What better excuse to buy a Darrell Lea chocolate bilby than for a “furry” good cause to help save one of Australia’s endangered species! As the only official confectionery sponsor of the Save the Bilby Fund, Darrell Lea’s famous chocolate bilbies are available each year during Easter and in the lead up to National Bilby Day, which is held on the second Sunday of September as part of the Federal Government’s National Threatened Species Week. |
The Save the Bilby Fund was set up by Ranger Frank Manthey and Zoologist Peter McRae from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, to raise enough money to build and maintain a 25 square kilometre predator-proof fenced-off area as a safe Bilby haven in the Currawinya National Park, in Central West Queensland.
National Bilby Day was launched in 2005 by the then Federal Minister for the Environment and Heritage, the Honourable Mr. Ian Campbell.
By purchasing a chocolate bilby from Darrell Lea you are helping to raise money for the Save the Bilby Fund.
